Spurs Appoint Mhlongo As New Assistant

Struggling Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town Spurs has appointed Benson Mhlongo as its assistant coach.
Mhlongo, a former player for Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates, replaces Vasili Manousakis. Manousakis has departed Spurs to rejoin coach Benni McCarthy, who is reportedly set to be announced as the Kenyan national team coach.
“Cape Town Spurs welcomes Benson Mhlongo as assistant coach,” said Spurs in a statement.
“He brings extensive experience from his playing and coaching career. Welcome to the Urban Warriors, Benson.”
Mhlongo, who won four league titles with Pirates and Sundowns (two each), will serve as assistant to head coach Ernst Middendorp.
He joins a club currently third from bottom in the standings with 19 points after 20 matches. However, morale may be improving after their recent 2-1 home victory over Highbury on Friday, their fourth win of the season.
