Stellenbosch Paired In Tough CAF Group

MTN8 finalists Stellenbosch have learned their CAF Confederation Cup group stage opponents.

Steve Barker’s side, who lost the MTN8 final to Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, has been drawn in Group B alongside CD Lunda Sul (Angola), Stade Malien (Mali), and RS Berkane.

Lunda is a familiar opponent, having eliminated Sekhukhune United in the preliminary round. Berkane is also known to South African football fans, with the Moroccan side having defeated Orlando Pirates in the 2021/22 season finale.

Stellenbosch reached the group stages for the first time in their history after impressive victories over Nsingizini Hotspurs of Eswatini and AS Vita Club of Congo in the preliminary rounds.

The first round of matches will begin on 26 and 27 November.
