Sundowns Anticipates A Tough Game Against Esperance

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa is confident that they can finish the job in Tunisia, even though Esperance Sportive de Tunis will give them a tough game on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilians will face the Tunisian giant, Esperance, in the second leg of the quarterfinal in the CAF Champions League at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi on Tuesday [21:00].

The 2016 African champions hold a slender advantage ahead of this game as they beat Esperance 1-0 in South Africa last week in the first leg, thanks to Peter Shalulile, who scored a great goal for Sundowns in the second-half.

As the Brazilians are aiming to book themselves to the semi-final of Champions League for the third time in a row, Lebusa believes they can win the game even though their game will be a tough one.

“We know the task that hand. We are playing against a very good side, and I think it’s going to be a very difficult game for both teams to play their normal game,” Lebusa said.

“But we’ve been working very hard since we came in here. We are fortunate enough to have a coach like [Miguel] Cardoso on our side who always makes sure we work hard so that we’ll come victorious.”

Last season, Sundowns lost in the semi-final against Esperance, and Cardoso was coaching the Tunisian giant then.

The former Ajax Cape Town defender added how being coached by a coach who played the final of Champions League during the previous season can help them win the competition this season.

“We are lucky enough to have a coach who played a final of this competition last season,” he added.

“He’s helping us a lot to realize our potential, but I’m not saying other coaches didn’t do that.

“We are trying to be better than we were last season, so in that regard, he’s leading us very well. The other coaches did a very good job, but right now, we are focusing on the present.”
