Sundowns Ladies Discover Opponents In CAFWCL COSAFA Qualifiers

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have learned who they will face in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers, following the draw conducted on Tuesday morning.
The Brazilians, who have won the CAF Women’s Champions League twice, will host the qualifiers in Johannesburg from August 22 to 31, 2025, and have been drawn in Group A alongside Ntopwa Ladies of Malawi, Zesco Ndola Girls of Zambia, and Beauties of Malawi.
As one of the most successful teams in the competition, Sundowns Ladies have a strong record in the CAF Women’s Champions League, having won the title in 2021 and 2023.
Banyana Ba Style have also appeared in all Champions League editions, showcasing their dominance in African women’s football.
This year, Sundowns Ladies will be looking to bounce back in the competition as they were eliminated in 2024, alongside their arch-rivals in the Hollywoodbets Super League UWC Ladies, who won the COSAFA qualifiers.
Unfortunately for UWC, this year they will not be participating in the Champions League, as it is only Sundowns who will be playing.
The other groups in the tournament include Group B, which features Gaborone United Ladies of Botswana, Eswatini’s Young Buffaloes, and Kick4Life from Lesotho.
Group C consists of Herentals Queen from Zimbabwe, Despotos of Mozambique, and Comoros’s Olympic De Moroni.
The format of the tournament is such that the three teams that finish top in their groups will advance to the semifinals, alongside one team that finishes as the best runner-up.
With their strong record in the competition, Sundowns Ladies will be confident of making a deep run in the tournament and adding to their collection of titles.
The COSAFA qualifiers are an important stepping stone for teams looking to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League, and Sundowns Ladies will be looking to use the
tournament as a platform to showcase their skills and prepare for the bigger stage.
