Sundowns Suspend Long-Serving Performance Analyst Masha

Sportswire has been informed that Mamelodi Sundowns have suspended one of their long-serving staff members, Mario Masha.

Masha, who serves as the club’s performance analyst, has been placed on suspension for reasons that have not yet been disclosed.

The experienced analyst has been with Sundowns for 10 years and seven months, having joined the club in August 2015.

Prior to his move to Chloorkop, Masha spent one season with Maritzburg United—now known as Durban City—between August 2014 and July 2015, before Sundowns came knocking for his services.

Masha, who holds a UEFA A Licence coaching certificate, has also worked abroad. He spent two years and three months with Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls, from August 2009 to October 2011.

Sundowns, who are currently experiencing a period of uncertainty under head coach Miguel Cardoso, also parted ways with Goolam Valodia at the end of last season.

Valodia, who served as both a scout and performance analyst, had been with the club since 2010.

It remains to be seen what steps Sundowns will take regarding Masha, as details surrounding his suspension have been kept out of the public domain.

A similar situation played out with Valodia, whose departure was only announced months later after a settlement had been reached.
