Sundowns To Renew Onyango’s Contract

Mamelodi Sundowns is set to renew the contract of their veteran goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, to keep the 40-year-old shot-stopper with the Brazilians for at least another season.

Sportswire has established that Onyango’s new deal will be a one-season extension, which could potentially be his last season as a Sundowns player.

Onyango’s illustrious career in South Africa began in 2006 when he joined SuperSport United, where he won three league titles from the 2007/08 season.

He later moved to Mpumalanga Black Aces before joining Sundowns in 2011, who then loaned him out to Bidvest Wits.

Since joining Sundowns, Onyango has achieved incredible success, including winning the CAF Champions League 2016 and nine league titles, including one this season.

He is now set to play a crucial role in the team’s upcoming fixtures, including the Champions League final against Egyptian giants Pyramids and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The renewal of Onyango’s contract is a testament to his dedication and commitment to the team. Despite his advanced age, Onyango remains a vital part of the Sundowns squad, and his experience will be invaluable to the team.

According to our sources, Sundowns has also identified a new role for Onyango, who has featured in 280 matches for Sundowns, on the staff after his playing career, recognizing his legendary status within the club.

This move will ensure that Onyango’s knowledge and expertise continue to benefit the team even after he hangs up his gloves.
