Williams, Bafana, Broos In Line For CAF Awards

Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams and coach Hugo Broos have been nominated for CAF Awards.
Williams is in contention for CAF Goalkeeper of the Year, CAF Interclub Player of the Year, and the prestigious CAF Player of the Year award.
Broos, who led Bafana Bafana to the Africa Cup of Nations bronze medal and secured qualification for the next tournament, is nominated for CAF Coach of the Year.
Bafana Bafana has been nominated for National Team of the Year, while Mamelodi Sundowns, winners of the inaugural African Football League and CAF Champions League semifinalists, are nominated for Club of the Year.
The final list of nominees for the 2024 CAF Awards was unveiled on Tuesday. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on 16 December.
The nominees for CAF Player of the Year are:
- Simon Adingra (Cote d’Ivoire / Brighton & Hove Albion)
- Serhou Guirassy (Guinea / Borussia Dortmund)
- Achraf Hakimi (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain)
- Ademola Lookman (Nigeria / Atalanta)
- Ronwen Williams (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns)
Other categories include Goalkeeper of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Club of the Year, and National Team of the Year.
The CAF Awards recognize outstanding performances in both club and national competitions. A total of seven categories are included in the Men’s category of the awards, with five nominees shortlisted in each category.
