Cape Town City claimed bragging rights in the sold-out Cape Town Derby, defeating Hope FC 2-0 in their Motsepe Foundation Championship clash at Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both goals came in the first half, with Emile Witbooi opening the scoring in the 30th minute. Cape Town City doubled their advantage just three minutes later when Cheswyn Philander found the back of the net, with Witbooi involved once again as he provided the assist.

The victory moved Cape Town City up to fifth place on the table with seven points from four matches. Hope FC, meanwhile, sit ninth with six points from their opening four games.
