New AmaZulu Striker Vows To Deliver Despite Recent Goal Drought

New AmaZulu striker Elmo Kambindu has vowed to find the back of the net for his new club, despite a recent goal drought.
The Namibian international joined Usuthu from Chippa United a few days ago, becoming the eighth Namibian player to represent the club.
He joins his compatriot Riaan Hanamub in the current squad, who also made the move from Chippa United two seasons ago.
Kambindu’s signing has raised some eyebrows due to his recent goal-scoring struggles. He hasn’t found the net since May last year, when he scored against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-final. His form at Chippa this season has been underwhelming, with no goals or assists in eight appearances.
However, this was enough to convince AmaZulu, whose co-coaches Vusi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane prioritized signing a proven goal-scorer during the January transfer window.
“I am happy to be here,” said Kambindu.
“I have been watching the club because of my Namibian compatriot (Hanamub) here. But I want to achieve more at the club, score goals and that is one of many reasons the club brought me here.
“The club can expect hard work; dedication that I will be putting every day. Goals are definitely going to come,” he assured.
Kambindu’s signing may not be as surprising as it initially seems. He previously worked under Usuthu co-coach Vilakazi at Chippa United last season, scoring five goals in 19 appearances.
However, his overall record in South Africa is modest. Since joining Chippa United, the Otjiwarongo-born striker has scored only five goals in 45 appearances. This is a concern for AmaZulu, who are desperate for a consistent goalscorer.
