Dove Remains Optimistic About Top 8 Despite Tough Season

Kaizer Chiefs defender Emilson Dove has acknowledged the club’s challenging season; however, he maintains that finishing within the top eight of the Betway Premiership remains their primary objective.

Amakhosi recently ended a decade-long trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup. Despite this success, their league performance under coach Nasreddine Nabi, who joined at the start of the season, has been inconsistent.

Chiefs currently occupy ninth place in the league standings with 30 points, having recorded eight wins, twelve losses, and six draws in their 26 matches.

With two league fixtures remaining, Dove has stated their determination to secure a top-eight finish and affirmed their commitment to contending for that position.

“Obviously, it has been a bit of a difficult season, but that’s our main goal right now, trying to make sure by all means we’re in that top eight position, you know,” said Dove.

“We’re working towards it and we’ll do everything in our power to make sure that we finish in the top eight,” Dove added.

He further commented, “Obviously it’s not going to be easy, there’s no easy games, but we’re ready to fight for it and hopefully we can finish the season within the top eight spot.”

The Mozambican international stressed the importance of performing at their optimal level to secure all three points in Saturday’s match against Sekhukhune United. Sekhukhune currently sit third on the league table and have proven to be strong competitors this season.

“As I’ve said, there are no easy games in this league, you know,” Dove said.

“We know the trap that they can possess, but the most important thing is we focus on ourselves, trying to fix whatever we can fix that we haven’t been doing so well, and making sure that we are ready come Saturday to go toe to toe, you know.”

“We need the points, and I’m 100% sure that the gents also understand that we need to go all out for us to be able to walk away with positive results,” he added.
