Chiefs Eye Slovakian Striker Amidst Squad Overhaul

Sportswire can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs are interested in the Slovakian attacker Robert Polievka.

However, for Chiefs to acquire him from MTK Budapest in Hungary, they will need to pay a transfer fee, as his contract expires in 2027.

Polievka’s goal-scoring statistics, however, are not particularly appealing for a player Chiefs would rely on for goals. He has so far scored only four goals in 26 matches across all competitions.

Chiefs are in need of a center forward to replace Ranga Chivaviro, with whom they parted ways a couple of days ago as his contract is set to expire at the end of this month. Despite starting the past season well with two goals in three matches, the former Marumo Gallants striker’s playing time at the club diminished in the second half, leading to the club’s decision not to renew his contract.

Chiefs are keen to have a better season next term, as the past season saw them finish ninth, outside the top eight for the second successive season. The club’s top scorers in the league were Wandile Duba and Glody Lilepo, both of whom scored five goals apiece, with Lilepo achieving this after arriving in January.

Although Chiefs will not feature in the MTN8 due to finishing outside the top eight yet again, they ended the season with a flourish by winning the Nedbank Cup, ending a 10-year trophy drought.

By virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup, Chiefs will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup next season. This is why they are looking to beef up the squad, and they have identified Polievka as one of their potential signings.
