Petersen Hails New Signings & Pre-Season Progress

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen has shared his enthusiasm regarding the club’s new player acquisitions and the positive atmosphere surrounding their pre-season training camp in the Netherlands.

Amakhosi have actively bolstered their squad as they prepare for the demanding Betway Premiership season.

Petersen expressed particular excitement about the arrival of former Orlando Pirates trio Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, and Siphesihle Ndlovu. These experienced players are expected to significantly impact the team.

Other notable new signings already announced by Chiefs include Nkanyiso Shinga, Ethan Chislett, and Flavio Silva. These additions have been diligently working to integrate with the squad and fine-tune their skills amidst the scenic Dutch landscape.

“Obviously about the new guys as well, it’s exciting signings and I think we’re looking forward to seeing them, and with the friendlies we’ll see a glimpse of them,” he said.

“I also think the supporters will see them as well in the Toyota Cup (at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 26 July), and people are excited to see them playing.

“Even they (new players) are also excited to play here, especially to make the fans happy, and we are really looking forward to having them.”

Peterson also praised the young players promoted to the first team, saying, “I think the younger boys we know all of them, we’ve seen them play and they’ve trained with us a few times. I think we’re really excited to see them playing together in the first team.”

On the pre-season in the Netherlands, Petersen has expressed his delight about how things have gone so far.

“I think I’ve been here a couple of times when I was in the junior team at Ajax Cape Town, and that time we spent most of the time with Ajax Amsterdam,” Petersen said.

“So, I think for us as Kaizer Chiefs coming here it’s good because it’s beautiful this side and we can feel the fresh oxygen with this good weather.”

Petersen praised the surroundings, saying, “I think the area is very nice for us, it’s quiet and we can just go out, focus on the craft, and go to the training and come back to recover very well.”

He added, “It’s been amazing, people are very welcoming, and it’s been really good staying in here. We’ve also got nice food, which is very important at this time of the season, and we’ve been taking care of ourselves.”

The former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper emphasized the team’s focus on the upcoming season, saying, “But all in all, for us is to just focus on our football and getting ready for the coming season, of which we want to do well.”
