AmaZulu Set To Appoint Mali As Analyst

Sportswire can confirm that Sinesipho Mali is set to join AmaZulu as the club’s analyst, with the second half of the season scheduled to resume later this month.

Usuthu have been without an experienced analyst since Tshepo Mahao departed in July to join Algerian side JS Kabylie.

Mahao had joined AmaZulu in March last year, replacing Pilela Maphosa, who left the club to work with Benni McCarthy as part of his technical team with Kenya.

Mali is understood to have recently left Chippa United, where he had been serving as the club’s sporting director after joining at the start of the current season.

The former Kaizer Chiefs technical team member was also part of the Bafana Bafana setup that won the bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, played in Ivory Coast in 2024.

He was with Bafana Bafana in Morocco earlier this month, but the national team failed to build on their 2024 success, exiting the tournament in the round of 16 following a defeat to Cameroon on Sunday.

Mali’s move to AmaZulu does not come as a surprise. He has been strongly linked with the club in the past and came close to joining Usuthu at the beginning of the season.

In taking up the analyst role at AmaZulu, Mali — who is also a qualified scout — will be reunited with head coach Arthur Zwane, with whom he worked extensively during their time at Kaizer Chiefs.

It has been a busy transfer window for Usuthu. The club recently appointed Kurt Lentjies as their DStv Diski Challenge head coach, with Thabo Mngomeni named as his assistant.

AmaZulu have also brought back Ayanda Mkhize as a scout and completed the signings of Mason Mushore and Tashreeq Manuel, as previously revealed by this publication on Thursday.
