Mngqithi Raids Golden Arrows With A Midfielder
Sportswire understands that head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has raided his former club, Golden Arrows, securing the signature of Ivorian midfielder Oumar Comara for Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC.
The 25-year-old joined Abafana Bes’thende from Ivorian outfit FC San Pedro at the start of last season alongside his compatriot, Isaac Cissé.
However, unlike Cissé, Comara was hampered by injuries and was restricted to 19 appearances across all competitions. Well aware of his qualities, Mngqithi moved swiftly to bring the midfielder with him to Tanzania.
Mngqithi, who was heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs before opting for Yanga, has assembled a familiar backroom staff in Dar es Salaam.
Former South African international Kagisho Dikgacoi—who served on his technical team at Arrows as they secured a top-eight finish—joins him in Tanzania, while performance analyst Yardaan Valodia has also made the switch from Durban.
Simo Dladla was appointed as assistant coach following his departure from AmaZulu at the end of last term.
Comara becomes the third high-profile departure from Golden Arrows in recent weeks:
- Siyanda Ndlovu: Joined Mamelodi Sundowns.
- Isaac Cissé: The 19-year-old winger, who scored five goals in 26 appearances last term, earned a transfer to Belgian side Royal Charleroi SC.
Comara represents Young Africans’ ninth signing ahead of the new campaign as the club continues its ambitious recruitment drive.
Yanga have already completed deals for former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, Cheikh Touré, Housseine Zakouani, Abdul Nasir Asaa Mohammed, Juma Issa Abushiri, Mohamed Mussa Salum, Albert Kangwanda, and Edson Erick Mwijage.
