Amapiano Star Zee To Headline Opening Ceremony

Prepare for an electrifying start to the 2024 Nedbank Cup Final! Amapiano songstress and dancer Zee Nxumalo will headline the opening ceremony, setting the stage for a thrilling clash between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

Nxumalo will join forces with the dynamic duo Shakes & Les to deliver an unforgettable performance, further fueled by the energy of stadium MC, Big Mike. The excitement doesn’t stop there – winners of the fan competition, selected from the Ke Yona Ya Rona weekly contests, will be announced during the ceremony. These 22 lucky fans not only received an all-expenses-paid trip to the final but also have a chance to win their share of a massive R5 million prize pool, with an additional R500,000 up for grabs for stokvel groups.

“As the opening ceremony sets the stage for the 2024 Nedbank Cup Final, we’re thrilled to showcase the dynamic fusion of music, entertainment and football,” says Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank.

“We’re also excited to electrify the atmosphere by adding an extra dimension to this highly anticipated event to celebrate the passion of our fans with the announcement of the competition winners who embody the spirit of the Ke Yona Ya Rona campaign. It’s a testament to the success of the tournament and our ongoing commitment to curate leading experiences and rewarding football supporters nationwide.”

Local fans can gear up for the final at the Promenade Shopping Centre on Thursday, May 30th, and Friday, May 31st, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This pre-match activation will feature interactive experiences for community members, including a “Legendary Shootout” game, and encourage social media sharing for a chance to win exciting prizes.

This year’s final embraces innovation with a unique blend of social media interaction and live football commentary. Real-time social media comments using the hashtag #NedbankCup will be transformed into dynamic commentary by a SuperSport commentator.

These interactions will also be broadcasted on SuperSport’s additional language offerings, fostering a sense of community across diverse audiences. Fans can further engage on the Nedbank X page, where they can join a dedicated “Space” to hear their comments delivered by their favorite commentator. The more fans participate with the hashtag and comment, the higher their chance of winning a share of R5,000 in cash!

While tickets for this blockbuster event are sold out, fans can still join the excitement virtually. The match will be broadcast live on the SuperSport PSL Channel (202) and SABC Sport. Gates at Mbombela Stadium open at 11:00 AM, and all ticket holders are encouraged to arrive early for a smooth entry process.
