Bafana Bafana have discovered their opponents for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They will face Uganda, Congo, and South Sudan in Group K.

These qualifiers will be the shortest in CAF history, with matches concentrated in September, October, and November.

Bafana Bafana entered the draw as a top-ranked team, seeded in Pot 1 due to their impressive performance at the most recent AFCON finals in Ivory Coast back in February. The team secured a bronze medal, their first in 24 years.

They’ll be aiming for a smoother qualification path to the tournament hosted by Morocco this time around. The previous qualifiers were a struggle, with Bafana Bafana only securing their spot after a hard-fought victory against Liberia away from home in the penultimate match.

While they finished second in their qualifying group behind Morocco, they did manage to get revenge by defeating them in the round of 16 at the AFCON finals. Notably, they lost to Morocco away in the first leg before securing a win on home soil in the qualifiers.

The AFCON finals in Morocco will be held from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. This adjusted schedule is due to the FIFA Club World Cup being held in the United States next year and the FIFA World Cup scheduled for 2026 across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Ivory Coast remains the current AFCON champion after their victory over Nigeria in the February finals.
