Mendieta Leaves Sundowns For Greece Move

Greek Super League side FC Volos has confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Junior Mendieta from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 31-year-old Argentinian spent just one season at Sundowns after joining them from Stellenbosch FC at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign. Mendieta featured in 18 league matches, scoring two goals for the Brazilians. Across all competitions, he made 29 appearances, adding three assists to his goal tally.
Mendieta impressed during his three-year stint at Stellenbosch, but struggled to hold a regular starting spot with the South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns. However, he departs with a league title and African Football League trophy to his name.

Mendieta joins Volos, who compete in the top tier of Greek football alongside established clubs like AEK Athens, Panathinaikos, POAK, and Olympiacos Piraeus.
