Banyana To Face Morocco Next Month
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that Banyana Banyana will face Morocco in an international friendly away match scheduled for next month.
Coach Desiree Ellis’ side will take on the Moroccans on Tuesday, 2 December, at a venue still to be confirmed.
Ellis is expected to announce her squad for the fixture on Saturday afternoon, 22 November.
The friendly forms part of Banyana Banyana’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be hosted in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026.
South Africa secured their place at the continental tournament after defeating DR Congo 1–0 in the second leg of their qualifier (2–1 on aggregate) at Dobsonville Stadium last month.
The decisive goal came from Thembi Kgatlana, whose strike sealed Banyana’s qualification in dramatic fashion.
The national team will assemble in Johannesburg on Monday, 24 November, before departing for Morocco on 28 November.
