Barker Confirms Nigerian Signing, While Ivorian Leaves The Club

Stellenbosch FC has strengthened their squad with the signing of Nigerian right-back Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill from Rivers United.
The PSL transfer window, which closes on 20 September, still allows Barker time to evaluate and potentially add more new faces.
Kazie is expected to fill the void left by the departure of captain Deano van Rooyen to Orlando Pirates. This announcement comes after Stellenbosch’s impressive 2-0 aggregate victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-finals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
“We’ve signed a Nigerian right-back, and he’s awaiting his visa. He should be arriving in South Africa next week,” Barker stated. “With Deano’s departure, this signing provides a replacement and additional depth in that position.”
Barker also confirmed that Ivorian forward Anicet Oura, who contributed eight goals and two assists in 35 matches last season, has left the club for an undisclosed destination. Antonio Van Wyk is also moving on, joining Austrian second division side SV Ried.
“We’re looking to replace two of those players with one versatile option and a midfielder. We need to bolster our numbers,” Barker explained. “We’re likely two or three signings away from having sufficient depth and quality throughout the squad.”
Kazie joins other new signings at Stellenbosch, including Omega Mdaka, Sanele Barns, Bradley Mojela, Brian Onyango, Ashley Cupido, and Tylon Smith (promoted from the club’s development). Ibrahim Jabaar has also returned from a loan spell in Europe.
