Bay Likely To Sack Truter

Sportswire can confirm that Richards Bay is set to part ways with head coach Brandon Truter.
The decision comes after a series of disappointing results, including a 2-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. This defeat marked the club’s third consecutive loss in the Betway Premiership, leaving them in 14th position with only five points from eight matches. The team has struggled to score goals, netting just two and conceding seven during this period.
The club’s chairman, Sifiso Biyela, expressed his frustration following a loss to Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup semi-final earlier this month. The home defeat raised concerns about the team’s direction under Truter’s leadership.
Truter, who previously coached AmaZulu and Moroka Swallows, was appointed as Bay’s head coach at the beginning of the season. The club had ambitious targets, aiming to finish in the top four after a significant R100 million investment from Phakwe Gas.
The Natal Rich Boys had initially expressed interest in appointing former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena, but contractual obligations prevented his immediate return to South African football. As a result, the club turned to Truter.
This is Truter’s second stint with Richards Bay. He previously coached the club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship between July 2018 and September 2019. During his tenure this term, he managed 11 games, winning three, losing six, and drawing two.
