Ben Youssef Stresses The Importance Of Victory

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has stated that the team is prepared for their Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

The Glamour Boys currently sit in position five with 14 points after seven games. Having won four games, drawn two, and lost one, Chiefs have had a great start to the season.

Ben Youssef mentioned that they are prepared for Usuthu because it is a must-win game.

“AmaZulu is one of the teams in the PSL, so we prepare all the teams the same,” said Ben Youssef, whose side has not lost to AmaZulu at home since February 2021 in the league.

“If we play AmaZulu, against Mamelodi Sundowns, against Chippa United, it’s a special game. So we prepare the plan of the game, and we see the last four or five games. We try to analyze with our analysts. We prepare for the game plan. Then we choose the right players based on their performance and the model of the game.

“And like every time we said every game we play like a cup game, we play to win. We know the situation in the PSL. Now I think our results, we started very well, but then we made a small drop, let me say we lost against Sekhukhune, then we made a draw. But now we have to come back and we win this game to come back in the first round.”

Ben Youssef has added that they are looking forward to the international break, underlining how important it is for the players’ mental health.

“I think it’s very, very important for us and it’s crucial for us,” said Ben Youssef, who has been leading the side following the absence of coach Nasreddine Nabi.

“We are waiting for this break, first because mentally it was tough for the players, you know, when you play PSL, CAF Confederation Cup, and every two days a game, meetings, every day meetings, then you go to camp, then you come back, training camp.

“So mentally it was tough for them, and they need to take a rest.”
