Cape Town City Sign Ex-Pirates In Push For PSL Promotion

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town City have shown their intent to bounce back into the top flight after completing the signing of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm from Sekhukhune United.

Timm, who joined Sekhukhune at the start of the season from Pirates, has now moved to Cape Town after spending just six months with Eric Tinkler’s side.

The 33-year-old featured in 14 matches across all competitions during his short spell at Sekhukhune.

He becomes the second player to join the Citizens in recent days, following the signing of Dženan Zajmović on Sunday.

An experienced campaigner, Timm has enjoyed a well-travelled career, having previously turned out for Durban City and Marumo Gallants before joining Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2022/23 season. During his time with the Buccaneers, he won three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups.

Timm joins City side that was relegated at the end of last season via the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs.

After a slow start to the campaign, the Citizens have made significant progress and currently sit fourth in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with 22 points from 14 matches.

Following the conclusion of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, Timm is expected to make his debut for City away to Gomora United on 23 January.
