Cardoso Confirms January Transfer Plans

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has confirmed that the club will look to add one more player in the January transfer window, with one foreign spot still available in the squad.
Sundowns were active in the recently closed transfer window, securing the signings of Portuguese duo Nuno Santos and Miguel Reisinho.
Santos, who joined from Vitória SC in a deal reportedly worth R20 million, made his first start this past weekend and impressed in the 4-1 victory over Richards Bay, claiming the Man of the Match award.
Reisinho, meanwhile, arrived as a free agent after leaving Portuguese side Boavista at the end of last season. Unlike Santos, his fitness is still being worked on, but he is expected to add depth to Sundowns’ midfield options.
They also added Katlego Ntsabeleng on loan from FC Dallas, and secured the services of Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC as their first signing of the window.
With four players signed, Cardoso revealed that Sundowns are already planning for January 2026.
“Of course, we still have one spot for a foreigner and that we will leave for the market in January to see where in that moment the team will be and if they will need to reinforce,” said Cardoso.
“Let’s see if we are going to use it or not. But we are very active, not only to South African market, but in general the African market.
“We have target, of course, we follow the players, we scout the players, we scout the teams, we watched and that is our scouting department, headed by Mr Flemming Berg, in agreement with the technical staff.
“Because always any player that come from us or from the group that he leads, which we cross, we discuss, we analyse, we report, then it is followed by the board of the club that takes the decision on the business.
“It is like any club that is structured has to work.”
Sundowns will now switch focus to the Carling Knockout round of 16 clash against Marumo Gallants at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday at 20:00.
