Cardoso Eyes Champions League Final Against Downs

ES Tunis coach Miguel Cardoso has declared their upcoming clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium a “defining match of the season” for his team.

This second-leg encounter in the CAF Champions League semi-final is winner-takes-all, with a berth in the prestigious club competition’s final on the line.

Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena acknowledged the challenge they face against a team steeped in African footballing history. Esperance boasts 31 league titles, one CAF Super Cup, and crucially, four Champions League titles – compared to Sundowns’ sole win in 2016.

Esperance holds a narrow advantage going into the away fixture, having secured a 1-0 victory at home in Rades thanks to Yan Sasse’s strike.

“This is the biggest match of the season for us,” Cardoso emphasized on the club’s website.

“Playing in a Champions League semi-final is a crucial moment. I hope my players are in peak condition and we can achieve a positive result.”

Cardoso and his staff have meticulously studied Sundowns’ tactics, analyzing numerous matches to prepare their strategy.

“We respect Mamelodi Sundowns as a formidable team,” he acknowledged. “However, we are confident in our own abilities and will focus on playing to our strengths.”

The Portuguese coach highlighted the unwavering determination of his players. “They understand the responsibility they carry and are committed to fighting until the final whistle,” he stated.

“On their behalf, I assure our supporters that we will fight with honor for the colors of Esperance and pursue qualification for the final.”

Cardoso has instilled a clear message in his team: absolute commitment, unwavering unity, and relentless fighting spirit. He anticipates a fiercely contested match with an uncertain outcome.

“The encounter will undoubtedly be a tough battle for both sides,” he predicted. “However, we possess the experience and talent to make the difference and secure a place in the final.”
