Cardoso: I Don’t Care About The Pirates’ Schedule

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says he doesn’t even think about Orlando Pirates they’ve got games in hand.

This was after Sundowns crushed TS Galaxy 4-1 in the league game at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening.

Following Sundowns’ victory on Saturday, the Tshwane giant extended the lead on top with 12 points clear to the Buccaneers who are lying in the second place with 36 points.

Pirates, who beat Cape Town City with a later goal on Saturday, still have three games in hand as they’ve played 15 games while the Brazilians have played 18 league games.

“I don’t look at the schedule of Pirates games, so I don’t think about their schedule but they have games in hand and they have to play these games,” Cardoso said.

“I know nothing about them but if we can win all our remaining games, eventually it be a huge advantage because we’ll get many points. So, let’s wait and see, let’s try to work hard in every game.

“We need to focus on our job now because we were not happy after losing to TS Galaxy last week. We need to win our games now so that we’ll get many points but there’s a lot of games that are left.”

Sundowns hammered Pirates 4-1 a couple weeks ago when these two sides met to distance themselves from the Soweto Giants, solidifying their top spot in the table.

As they beat, former Stellenbosch midfielder Jayden Adams had a stellar performance as he won the Man of the Match award along to boot.

Cardoso said Sundowns signed a good player Adams in the January transfer window and he is improving day by day.

“The role of the coach is to try to find also the connection between the player and how he works,” the former Espérance Sportive de Tunis coach said.

“We have many good players and Jayden of course is one of them. He is happy to be with us and his teammates have been helping him to settle.

“The way we play is one of the things that we want him to understand and he can also do what we are doing. He is capable of many things, he’s a very interesting player in terms of understanding the game of which it’s intelligent.”

The Bafana Bafana midfielder has scored two goals for the Brazilians since he joined the club during the January transfer window. Adams scored his first goal for Sundowns on his first start in the Tshwane Derby against SuperSport United.
