Cardoso Praises Shalulile For Century Strikes

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has lauded striker Peter Shalulile for achieving his 100th goal for the Brazilians.

The Namibian attacker, who joined Sundowns from Highlands Park during the 2020/21 season, reached the milestone in their 2-0 victory over AmaZulu. This achievement came in 194 appearances for the club, accompanied by 26 assists.

Shalulile, also the captain of the Namibian national team, has since won four league titles and was named PSL Footballer of the Year in his second season with Sundowns.

“He has been doing all his life to score goals and even when we think to take him out he just makes a goal,” Cardoso said

“He struggled a little bit with fatigue, but he is a fighter every time. Sometimes you need to respect the fact that the players need proper energy for them to perform. “He’s capable of scoring from one minute to the other.”

Shalulile faced challenges in their subsequent match, a loss to Orlando Pirates last weekend. The 31-year-old was substituted before the start of the second half, replaced by Arthur Sales.

Following the FIFA World Cup qualifying break, Sundowns, who lead the Betway Premiership table, will host Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday.
