Chiefs Coach Gives Promising Injury Update On Dortley And Msimango

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has provided an injury update on defenders Rushwin Dortley and Given Msimango ahead of the team’s Betway Premiership match against Richards Bay at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

The Glamour Boys started the season without two of their key defenders. Dortley has been sidelined since March, having reportedly undergone knee surgery. Msimango is also recovering from a groin injury that caused him to miss the final five league games of the previous season.

In their absence, Chiefs have relied on Inacio Miguel and Aden McCarthy, who have stepped up and helped the team secure two clean sheets to start the new campaign.

Ben Youssef also gave an update on Zitha Kwinika, who struggled with injuries last season

“I think with Dortley, he keeps working with our medical staff,” said Ben Youssef.

“They did a very good job with him. Soon, I think few weeks, he will be back with us. He and Given will start training sessions with the team.”

Ben Youssef added that the return of Dortley and Msimango will provide valuable experience and depth to the squad, while also praising the strong performances of McCarthy and Miguel.

“I think last season, it was tough for us when we finished the season. We finished, let me say the last three games without a defender on the bench. Given was injured, Zitha was injured, and Dortley was injured, so we promoted Aiden to play the last two games,” he said.

“This season we start with Given and Dortley out, for sure, when they will be back, they will help the team with the experience they have, and also with confidence. They will fight for this position now. I think Aiden with Miguel will perform very well. Zitha is coming, he is ready.

“Also, now they will be back and it’s confidence. And we know when we have a lot of players, the level for the players will increase.”
