CSA Celebrates Proteas’ Historic Runner-Up Finish At T20 World Cup

Cricket South Africa (CSA) extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Proteas for their valiant effort as runners-up in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

While falling short to India by seven runs in a thrilling final in Barbados, the Proteas deserve immense credit for their remarkable campaign. They displayed exceptional control throughout the tournament, boasting an unbeaten record until the final hurdle. This achievement will undoubtedly be etched in South African cricket history.

“A heartfelt congratulations to the Proteas for their valiant efforts,” said CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki. “This team has shown tremendous tenacity and strength throughout the entire T20 World Cup campaign. While we may not have secured the trophy, the Proteas embodied greatness and displayed an unbreakable unity throughout the competition. They are champions in their own right.”

CSA Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe, echoed these sentiments: “Reaching the World Cup final for the first time is a significant milestone in the world of cricket, even though we couldn’t clinch the victory. We will continue to support the Proteas in their journey to become the number one team in future World Cups.”

“Congratulations to Coach Rob Walter and the entire Proteas squad,” Nkwe continued. “The commitment shown by each member, both on and off the field, is truly commendable. Their heroics and journey to this historic milestone will be forever remembered. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves and the exceptional cricket they displayed throughout the World Cup. This is just the beginning!”
