Dansin Eyes Goal Of the Season For Sundowns Screamer

Orlando Pirates youngster Cemran Dansin is hoping his spectacular strike against Mamelodi Sundowns in November will earn him the Goal of the Season award.

Dansin’s goal already appears a strong contender, having helped him scoop the Betway Premiership Goal of the Month award for November and December. The strike was widely regarded as one of the standout moments of the season.

The 20-year-old produced a moment of brilliance against Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld. Oswin Appollis’ corner was not properly cleared, allowing the ball to fall kindly to Dansin on the edge of the box. Without hesitation, he struck a first-time volley that left Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams rooted to the spot, with the ball crashing in off the crossbar to cancel out Peter Shalulile’s early opener.

Remarkably, it was Dansin’s first senior professional goal, and it was celebrated by both the club and the league as the best strike of the month. Having won the Goal of the Month award, it is now in contention for the Goal of the Season accolade at the end of the campaign. By all indications, it will take something special from another player to surpass Dansin’s effort.

“I will be very happy, and I hope I can win the Goal of the Season award,” said Dansin.

The promising youngster also believes he is in the right place at the right time, playing for an iconic club like Orlando Pirates. He feels the environment provides everything he needs to flourish and achieve his ambitions in the game.

Dansin has enjoyed a rapid rise from youth football to the senior ranks since joining the Buccaneers ahead of the 2023/24 season. His impressive performances in the DStv Diski Challenge earned him a first-team promotion during the latter stages of the 2024/25 campaign, where he made his debut off the bench in a 3–0 league win over Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Since then, he has made a further 11 senior appearances across all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, where he registered his first assist.

He also started in Pirates’ Carling Cup triumph this past weekend, as they defeated the Carling All Stars at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“As a young player, playing for Orlando Pirates is going to help me a lot going forward,” Dansin added. “Knowing that I’m capable of doing so well in such a short space of time is huge.”
