Davids Announces Raja Exit Ahead Of Simba Move

Former Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids has written a farewell letter as he is leaving the Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

Davids served as assistant coach under Josef Zinnbauer, a manager he previously assisted at Orlando Pirates. Together, they led Raja to a league title and Throne Cup victories this past season.

Davids is now poised to be announced as the new head coach of Simba SC. Having recently acquired his UEFA Pro Licence, Davids will take charge of “Wana Msimbazi” after his successful stint as Raja’s assistant coach.

Davids won’t be going it alone at Simba. Darien Wilken will join him as assistant coach, while Mueez Kajee will strengthen the technical team as a performance analyst, as they did so when they were at Maritzburg United. Both Wilken and Kajee were part of the Raja technical team led by Zinnbauer this past season.

Completing the Simba technical staff is Riedoh Berdien, who brings experience from Mamelodi Sundowns and Tanzanian club Young Africans as a strength and conditioning coach. The goalkeeper coach position remains unfilled at this time, but it is rumoured Wayne Sandilands might follow them.

Davids, whose coaching career includes stints at Orlando Pirates, Chippa United, Maritzburg United, and Bloemfontein Celtic, will replace Algerian manager Abdelhak Benchikha. Benchikha resigned in April of this year.
