AmaZulu Loses Sandilands To Simba SC
AmaZulu goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands has departed the club to join Fadlu Davids’ technical team at Simba SC in Tanzania.
Davids recently left Raja Casablanca in Morocco, where he served as assistant coach under Josef Zinnbauer. Notably, the team achieved an undefeated league title and won the Throne Cup this week.
Sandilands will reprise his role as goalkeeper coach at Simba, a position he held at both AmaZulu and Maritzburg United. Davids brought him to Maritzburg during the 2022/23 season after Sandilands left Orlando Pirates. Following Maritzburg’s relegation, both Davids and Sandilands departed the club. Sandilands then joined AmaZulu at the start of last season under head coach Pablo Franco Martin.
This move reunites Davids with Simba SC, a team he previously defeated while co coaching Pirates with Mandlan Ncikazi in the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup in semi final. Pirates reached the final but lost on penalties to RS Berkane of Morocco.
Interestingly, Sandilands was the goalkeeper for Mamelodi Sundowns when they won the CAF Champions League in 2016.
