Sundowns Re-Appoint Komphela

Mamelodi Sundowns has brought back Steve Komphela to serve as senior coach, assisting Manqoba Mngqithi and the technical team.
This follows the departure of Rulani Mokwena on Wednesday.
Komphela joins Sundowns after a brief stint at Golden Arrows, having previously left Moroka Swallows to join Durban-based side in March this year. He originally departed Sundowns at the beginning of last season to join Swallows.
“Mamelodi Sundowns today welcomed Steve Komphela who will serve as Senior Coach and will assist Manqoba Mngqithi and the Technical Team,” the club announced in a statement.
This is Komphela’s second stint at Sundowns. He was first appointed ahead of the 2020/21 season, also leaving Arrows at the time. He was brought in to form a coaching trio with Mokwena and Mngqithi after the departure of Pitso Mosimane, who resigned to manage Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
“I am very excited to be back at Mamelodi Sundowns where I was always inspired and treated with respect and love,” Komphela said.
“I am committed to contributing to the club achieving its goals in South Africa and on the African continent.”
Sundowns is currently training in South Africa for the upcoming season and will depart for a pre-season tour in Austria on 13 July.
