‘Don’t Burn This Talent’: Ouaddou Urges Caution Over Dansin

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has warned against placing too much pressure on Camren Dansin, urging everyone to protect the young midfielder and allow him to continue his development.

The 20-year-old delivered an impressive performance in Pirates’ 2-0 Betway Premiership victory over newly promoted Milford FC at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, earning the Man of the Match award.

Dansin has continued to enhance his growing reputation after also winning the Goal of the Season award for the 2025/26 campaign. The accolade came courtesy of his stunning strike against African champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on his first league start for the Buccaneers.

“We have to be very careful because I’ve been in this business for a while. The boy is doing well,” Ouaddou said.

“We took our time to bring him into the team. Remember, I didn’t hesitate to play him in a big game against Sundowns, and he scored a fantastic goal.

“We recognised his talent, but you mustn’t burn that talent. The wise thing is to do it step by step. People didn’t know why it took us so long to bring him in, but we knew what we were doing.

“At the same time, I want us to be cautious, including the media, about not putting this boy on a pedestal too quickly because his career is long. He is doing well, and we will work hard to help him reach a high level.

“He is doing well at the moment. Dansin will need a lot of humility and must not listen to what outsiders are saying because he can quickly lose himself. We are here to help him, and he must continue to work hard, stay focused on his career and remain serious. I think things will go well. But we – the coaches, the club and you guys as well – must protect this talent.”
