Dove Leaves Chiefs, Heading To Middle East

Kaizer Chiefs has officially confirmed that defender Edmilson Dove will be leaving the club as his contract expires in June, paving the way for him to join a team in the Middle East.

Sportswire reported last month that Dove would depart when his contract ended, a detail now confirmed by the Soweto Giants. This website was informed that a new team in the Gulf region has been secured for the Mozambican international.

However, the specific team and country remain undisclosed for now, with Mir Sport opting to keep the details confidential. It’s understood that Dove will join his new club in the coming days.

The Gulf region’s appeal lies in its substantial salaries and relatively relaxed age restrictions, making it an attractive destination for players in their 30s.

“Chiefs and Dove Part Ways. Kaizer Chiefs and defender Edmilson Dove will part ways when his contract expires at the end of June,” read a statement from Chiefs. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Edmilson for his contributions to the Club and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Dove, who was hampered by a long-term injury he suffered during the off-season last term, leaves having won the Nedbank Cup last month when Chiefs defeated Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The 30-year-old featured in 56 matches for Chiefs and scored two goals.
