Du Preez Insists: Don’t Lose Hope On Us
Kaizer Chiefs forward Ashley Du Preez has called on Amakhosi fans for unwavering support as the team battles to secure a CAF spot next season.
Following two consecutive league defeats against Chippa United and Stellenbosch, Chiefs are looking to regain confidence against Richards Bay at King Zwelithini Stadium today (15:00).
“I think the supporters also need to be behind us and not turn their backs on us and I think the only way we can make them happy is to win games,” insisted the 26-year-old.
Du Preez believes it won’t be a walk in the park for his side, but should they convert their chances in the game, hopes for a CAF spot will be revived for AmaKhosi.
“We’re looking forward to the game against Richards Bay and it’s going be a tough game, but we want to fight for CAF spot. So, I think planning on to win that match is to create a lot of chances and convert them,” said the former Stellies striker.
Chiefs have failed to find victory in four consecutive games, losing three and getting a draw away to Cape Town City, having collected just one point off a possible 12.
Despite the hideous form, Du Preez has urged the fans not to turn their backs on the team.
Sitting on just three goals in 17 league games, Du Preez further commented on his form this season, admitting that he has been receiving many chances to increase his numbers as a forward.
“I think I can do a lot better on performing and I do get a lot of chances each game, so I think each game I need to be ready when the chances come,” reiterated the Chiefs forward.
Chiefs, who are 10th in the table, won 1-0 in the reverse fixture when Nkosingiphile Ngcobo scored the game’s only in December at FNB Stadium.
