The 2026 Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League Provincial Playoffs came to a successful conclusion at Port Dunford Sportground in the King Cetshwayo District on Saturday, 19 July, after three days of fiercely contested football that showcased some of KwaZulu-Natal’s most promising amateur clubs.

The annual tournament brought together the champions from the province’s regional leagues, all competing for the opportunity to earn promotion to the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League.

The playoffs once again highlighted the significance of the Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League as a vital stepping stone in South Africa’s football development structure, providing ambitious clubs with a platform to progress towards the professional ranks.

The competition featured high-intensity matches throughout the three-day event, with teams demonstrating determination, discipline, and quality as they battled for the coveted promotion places. Supporters from across the province turned out to witness the action, creating a vibrant atmosphere and underlining the passion for grassroots football in KwaZulu-Natal.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Mntomuhle Khawula attended the final and congratulated the participating teams for their commitment and sportsmanship. He reserved special praise for Dumehlezi Football Club from the Umkhanyakude District, who emerged as the 2026 Provincial Champions after defeating MP Thwala All Stars from the iLembe District in a tightly contested final.

Dumehlezi produced a disciplined and determined performance to edge past their opponents and lift the provincial title, capping off an impressive campaign. Although MP Thwala All Stars fell short in the championship match, they also had plenty to celebrate, as both finalists secured promotion to the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League for the 2026/27 season.

Their promotion marks a significant milestone for both clubs, rewarding months of hard work and consistent performances throughout the regional league campaign. The achievement also offers players, coaches, and administrators an opportunity to test themselves at a higher level of competition while continuing their pursuit of professional football.
