Ettifaq Include Nkota For European Friendlies
New Ettifaq signing Mohau Nkota has been included in the squad for upcoming friendly matches against European teams.
Nkota’s move to the Saudi Arabian side was finalized on Sunday while he was with Orlando Pirates for pre-season training in Spain.
The Young Player of the Season nominee will now train alongside notable names such as former Atlético Madrid striker Moussa Dembélé and former Liverpool star midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
Ettifaq, previously managed by Steven Gerrard, has a series of challenging friendlies lined up:
- Tuesday, July 22: vs. Portimonense (Liga Portugal 2)
- Tuesday, July 29: vs. Farense
- Sunday, August 3: vs. Al-Jazira
- Wednesday, August 6: vs. Cadiz Mirandilla and Cadiz FC
Nkota did not play a single match for the Soweto Giants during their pre-season in Spain, which, in hindsight, was a strong indication that transfer talks were underway.
Moving to the financially robust Saudi Arabian league, Nkota will now be rubbing shoulders with global superstars like Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, N’Golo Kanté, Sadio Mané, and Aleksandar Mitrović, to name just a few.
Nkota’s transfer follows a remarkable debut season last term with the Buccaneers, where he made 39 official appearances and contributed to 12 goals.
