Maart Departs Chiefs For Austrian Club

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that midfielder Yusuf Maart has left the club to join Austrian Football Bundesliga side SV Ried.
Maart did not travel with Chiefs for their pre-season camp in the Netherlands, as he remained behind to finalize his transfer. While the Soweto Giants departed, Maart traveled to Austria to complete the move, and the club has now officially confirmed the deal.
“Maart departs Amakhosi for Austria. Midfielder Yusuf Maart has left Amakhosi to join newly-promoted Austrian Football Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried,” read a statement from Kaizer Chiefs. “The Club appreciates Maart’s contribution and wishes him well in this new chapter in his career.”
The 29-year-old has signed a contract with SV Ried until 2027. He’ll be joining another South African international at the Austrian club, as Ried signed former Stellenbosch attacker Antonio van Wyk at the start of last season.
Maart will undoubtedly be remembered by Chiefs fans for scoring the winning goal against his former club, Orlando Pirates, in the Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 10 May.
His powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the box in the dying moments of the game sealed the trophy for Chiefs.
Having joined Kaizer Chiefs from Sekhukhune United ahead of the 2022/23 season, Maart leaves the club with a record of 95 appearances, seven goals, and eight assists.
