European & PSL Clubs Vie For Spurs Midfielder

There is significant interest in Cape Town Spurs left-sided midfielder Liam Bern after his club was relegated to the ABC Motsepe Regional League in Cape Town.
According to Sportswire sources, Bern is wanted by three clubs in the PSL, and there is also interest from Europe, specifically from one of the top ten leagues.
The 22-year-old possesses one of the most skilled left feet, which led to his inclusion in the Bafana Bafana Cosafa Cup squad last year in Port Elizabeth. This past season, despite Spurs’ relegation to the third division from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, he started in 30 matches across all competitions under former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp.
“There is a lot of interest in Cape Town Spurs players, as there are some good ones there,” a source stated. “One of them is Liam Bern, who has attracted interest from at least three PSL clubs and one European-based club. It’s not one of the absolute top leagues, but I would say it’s within the top ten leagues in Europe.”
However, what is concerning to those handling Bern’s affairs are external individuals who are reportedly “tapping up” the left-back, which has greatly infuriated his representatives. “They are foolish people who are messing around with us, and I hope they stop doing that,” the source said. “He is our player, and I hope they stop tapping up our player.”
With Spurs now out of the professional ranks, Bern is essentially a free agent, much like Asanele Velebhayi, who was targeted by Kaizer Chiefs at the start of last season. Bern was promoted by the once-mighty Urban Warriors in the 2021/22 season and has since featured in 80 matches across all competitions, though he has yet to score.
