Ex-Chiefs Striker On Target

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana found the back of the net for USM Alger in their last league outing against ASO Chlef in the Algerian Ligue 1 at Stade du 5 Juillet on Wednesday evening.
The Burundi international’s goal was not enough to prevent his side from suffering defeat, conceding goals from Edward Ledlum and Ayoub Sadahine, before Bimenyimana converted from the spot in the 90th minute in which only proved to be a consolation in a 2-1 loss.
Bimenyimana, who scored on his debut, has so far netted two goals and provided one assist in eight appearances in all competitions. The ex-Amakhosi cult hero signed for the club on a free transfer in February on a deal that runs until 31 January 2026 with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
Meanwhile, following the defeat, the Algiers-based outfit stretched its winless run in the league to four games and six across all competitions.
USM is currently in sixth place, having accumulated 33 points in 23 league matches.
The poor run of form, including a CAF Confederations Cup exit to fellow Algerian club CS Constantine in the quarterfinals, saw coach Marcos Paqueta relieved of his duties, just two months after he was appointed.
