Fadlu Bags Award In Tanzania

South African coach Fadlu Davids has been honored in Tanzania, scooping the NBC Premier League Coach of the Month award for March after guiding Simba SC to flawless victories in pursuit of the league title.
The Tanzanian giants played two matches last month after boycotting the much-anticipated Kariakoo derby against fierce rivals Young Africans at the eleventh hour, citing rule violations from their opponents. Talks are still ongoing to schedule a new date for the clash.
In the league outings that led to Davids reigning supreme over his counterparts, Simba cruised to a 3-0 win against Coastal Union before thumping Dodoma Jiji FC 6-0 in a statement win to consolidate their title chase.
The Reds of Msimbazi are currently 10 points behind Yanga, who have accumulated 67 points after playing 25 matches. However, Davids’ charges have three games in hand due to their continental commitments.
With the 2024/25 campaign drawing to a close, the South African mentor will be determined to finish the season strong and win the club its first league title since the 2020/21 term. Yanga are on course for a fourth consecutive championship.
On the other hand, Davids became the first-ever coach to lead the Tanzanian giants to the semi-finals of a CAF interclub competition after Simba booked a spot in the last four of the CAF Confederations Cup on Wednesday, dumping out Egyptian side Al Masry on penalties.
The 43-year-old tactician will return to his native country, where his side is scheduled to face Steve Barker’s formidable Stellenbosch FC in the second leg of their semi-finals clash on April 27.
The first leg will take place on 20 April in Dar es Salaam.
Overall, the 22-time Tanzanian champions have a chance of winning a treble as they are still in contention in three competitions, including the CRDB Federation Cup. It remains to be seen whether Davids, who reportedly turned down AS FAR of Morocco in January, can achieve the feat.
