Fit Dube In Search For A PSL Club

Powerful defender Siyabonga Dube is on the hunt for a new club in the PSL after returning to the country at the end of last season.
The 28-year-old spent eight years with Abafana Bes’Thende but left the Durban-based side at the end of the 2021/22 season. Plagued by injuries, he did not play a single match that season. His last PSL start was against Kaizer Chiefs in November 2020, a game that ended in a 2-2 draw in Durban.
Subsequently, Dube was limited to the bench due to a rib cage injury.
After leaving Arrows, the 28-year-old signed for KF Liria Prizren abroad last season. He featured in 16 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing four assists. This resurgence in form has made him eager to showcase his abilities in South Africa, closer to family and friends.
“I’m very keen to come back and play for any club in the PSL,” said Dube.
“I had a good run in Kosovo to gain my fitness after a long injury layoff, and now I’m ready for the new adventure and mostly back in the PSL.”
Dube was part of the Arrows side that gained the promotion to the DStv Premiership in the 2014/15 season under Shaun Bartlett after relegation the previous year. He played in 124 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing three assists for the Durban-based team.
His memorable and only goal in those matches came against Chiefs in November 2015 at FNB Stadium, which was a thunderbolt strike starting from his own half, before beating Itumeleng Khune outside the box. Despite this impressive effort, Arrows lost 3-1 that day under coach Serame Letsoaka.
Internationally, Dube was included in the Bafana Bafana squad that defeated Sao Tome in November 2020 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, both matches being played in South Africa. However, he did not feature in either game.
