Former Pirates Defender Eyes Black Leopards Deal

Zukile Mkhize, the experienced defender who last played for Royal AM and Orlando Pirates, is currently training with Black Leopards ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 32-year-old, born in Umzimkhulu, joined the Polokwane-based team last week and is working hard to impress the coaching staff.

Although there have been no talks about a potential deal yet, Mkhize’s impressive experience could be a valuable asset to the team if he signs.

Mkhize’s current stint with Black Leopards comes after he was among the players who lost their jobs when Royal AM was expelled by the Premier Soccer League last season.

The defender was unable to find a new team and spent the second half of the season without a club. With Leopards, Mkhize could bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise, having played in the PSL for several years.

The defender’s career has seen him play for several teams, including Golden Arrows, University of Pretoria, and Royal Eagles.

Mkhize initially joined Orlando Pirates in 2014 from the Ibisi Blue Birds in the KZN Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League playoffs, where he was outstanding at just 22 years old and won the player of the tournament award.

The Buccaneers decided to loan him to Golden Arrows in that season of the 2014/15 season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where he played 28 games and scored four goals.

In his time with Royal AM since the 2021/22 season, Mkhize scored three goals in 39 games in the Betway Premiership, showcasing his ability to contribute to his team’s success.

With his experience and skills, Mkhize could be a valuable addition to Lidoda Duvha if he can secure a deal with the club.
