Frustrated Nabi: “Tired Of Talking About Missed Chances”

Under increasing pressure, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi expressed his frustration, stating he is “tired of talking about the same thing” – missed opportunities – following his team’s 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Nabi was visibly annoyed as the Soweto giants squandered a potential victory. Wandile Duba’s first-half goal had put Chiefs in a commanding position.
However, Mlungisi Mbunjana capitalized on defensive errors to score an equalizer for Galaxy in the 81st minute, just nine before stoppage time. Former Chiefs attacker Thuso Dithejane also missed a clear chance to win the game for Galaxy, volleying wide when through on goal.
This draw extends Chiefs’ winless streak to four league matches, further intensifying the pressure on coach Nabi.
The team entered the match under significant strain, having failed to win their previous three games, including two consecutive defeats.
Their last victory was against Magesi at the beginning of the previous month, and with wins proving elusive, their top-eight position is now under threat.
Prior to the match, Chiefs were eighth in the league standings, making a win crucial to maintain their position.
“The opportunities that we got was due to our pressing, our timing, because it’s something that we have our work worked on depending on the opponent,” said Nabi on SuperSport TV after the game.
“But, you know, I’m tired of repeating myself every day about the opportunities that we are missing, and we feel that we should have been able to score more than one goal.
“But we give the opportunity the other to the opponent to be to stay alive and we knew that they were good at set pieces.
“We were trying to make changes as well to put some height in it, but unfortunately, we conceded a goal from a corner.”
Nabi’s frustration was evident at the final whistle as he headed straight to the tunnel, having witnessed his team squander several chances to secure victory.
Despite the draw, Chiefs remain eighth in the league table with 30 points after 24 matches. Up next for Chiefs is the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns next weekend.
