Official: Gallants Welcome Back Kerr
Marumo Gallants FC has confirmed the return of coach Dylan Kerr.
Gallants secured their return to the DStv Premiership after acquiring Moroka Swallows FC in its entirety. The PSL executive committee approved the transaction and was confirmed by the club last Thursday.
This marks the third homecoming for Kerr, who previously led the club to their first-ever Nedbank Cup victory in the 2020/21 season, defeating Chippa United in the final.
The triumph took place under the ownership of Abram Sello, who bought the club in that season, renaming the club Marumo Gallants at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
Kerr left that season and join Swallows in 2022, but their paths diverged again in September after a heavy defeat to Golden Arrows. He rejoined Gallants in 2022/23 season in a rescue attempt, ultimately he was unable to prevent relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of that season.
Despite the relegation, Gallants achieved a noteworthy run in the CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the semifinals before being eliminated by Young Africans of Tanzania.
With the acquisition of Swallows, Gallants secured their return to the top flight and are now reunited with Kerr to lead their Premiership campaign. Kerr brings additional experience from his previous coaching roles with Black Leopards and Baroka FC in the PSL.
