Gallants Acquire Swallows

Marumo Gallants football club officially confirmed the acquisition of Moroka Swallows football club today, following final approval from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) executive committee.
This acquisition secures Gallants’ place in the top-flight DStv Premiership for the upcoming season.
Swallows had been facing financial difficulties, leading to player strikes and missed matches in December of last season. Club owner David Mogashoa sought to sell the club, and with PSL approval secured, the deal is now finalized.
“Following the final approval of the Premier Soccer League, (PSL) today, Marumo Gallants Football Club officially confirms the acquisition of Moroka Swallows Football Club,” said Gallants statement.
“Gallants will take over Swallows with immediate effect.”
Gallants also confirmed where they will play their home matches next season.
“The club also confirms that home games for the upcoming season will be played in Bloemfontein, Free State,” statement said.
“Gallants will provide more details of plans once staff, technical teams and players have been addressed. At this stage the club will not be issuing further comments or taking interviews – a date will be communicated for a press briefing that will take place shortly.”
It’s worth noting that Marumo Gallants themselves were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of the 2022/23 season. This acquisition allows them to retain their top-tier status through Swallows’ Premiership position.
