Kaizer Chiefs Legends Suffer Penalty Shootout Defeat To Jozi Masters
Kaizer Chiefs Legends suffered a 1-0 penalty shootout defeat to Jozi Masters in the curtain-raiser to the third edition of the Toyota Cup at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday, following a goalless draw after 60 minutes.
The legends exhibition match served as the opening act before the main event, where Chiefs face Zimbabwean outfit Scottland FC in the third edition of the Toyota Cup. The fixture forms part of both clubs’ preparations for the upcoming season.
This was the third Legends match staged as part of the Toyota Cup, following the inaugural edition in Bloemfontein in 2024 and the second edition in Durban in 2025.
Chiefs are still searching for their first Toyota Cup title, having previously lost to Young Africans in 2024 and Asante Kotoko in 2025.
Both Chiefs Legends and Jozi Masters produced an entertaining contest, creating several scoring opportunities in the first half, but neither side could find the breakthrough.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with disciplined defending and missed chances ensuring the match finished goalless after 60 minutes.
The contest was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout, with Jozi Masters emerging 1-0 winners.
