AmaZulu striker Elmo Kambindu is optimistic about his team’s chances of securing three points in their upcoming Betway Premiership match against his former club, Chippa United, at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on Saturday.

The 31-year-old, who joined Usuthu during the January transfer window following a stint with the Chilli Boys, has scored four goals since his arrival. AmaZulu, however, enter the match after losing their last two league games.

During his time with the Eastern Cape side, Kambindu made 45 appearances and scored five goals.

“We’re ready to take on Chippa and then get the points,” Kambindu stated.

Since joining Usuthu, Kambindu’s goal-scoring record has surpassed his previous performance with Chippa, having netted four goals in nine appearances across all competitions.

The Namibian-born player acknowledged his recent goal-scoring form and expressed his intention to continue this trend in the upcoming match.

“I’ve been scoring now and then,” he said.

“They (Chippa) know me, obviously, my previous employers, so most of the guys they know me; they know the type of game I play, but it’s not going to stop me from doing what I’m doing.”

“I’ll just go there, work hard as I always do, get the goals, and win the games tomorrow,” he added.

AmaZulu currently sit seventh in the Betway Premiership table with 30 points from 23 games, five points ahead of ninth-placed Chippa, who have three games in hand.
