Larsen Linked To Venda FC Coaching Role

Venda Football Club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship could see Coach Clinton Larsen take the helm next season, Sportswire reports.

Venda FC is currently without a coach since Stan Nkoane recently departed to join JDR Stars, a club that has since been sold to a Sekhukhune businessman in Limpopo.

Nkoane successfully steered the Venda-based club away from relegation to the ABC Motsepe Regional League last season, securing a 14th-place finish in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

With their coaching position open, Venda FC has shown interest in Larsen, who is currently unattached. Larsen left Magesi FC last December after a period of poor results, notably resigning live on TV after a loss to the Carling All Stars team at Orlando Stadium.

This resignation came just a month after he led Magesi to victory in the Carling Knockout Cup, where they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns in Bloemfontein.

It was Larsen’s second top-flight trophy, as he previously won the same competition with Bloemfontein Celtic against Sundowns in Durban during the 2012/13 season. The Durban-born coach also helped Magesi achieve promotion to the Betway Premiership by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Venda FC believes Larsen, who has also coached Chippa United, Golden Arrows, Polokwane City, and Maritzburg United, can help them achieve their ambition of playing in top-flight football in the future. Larsen was previously linked with AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, and Richards Bay, but none of those opportunities materialized.
