Major Boost For Pirates Against Richards Bay

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they have been boosted by the return of Sipho Mbule and Kamogelo Sebelebele ahead of their clash against Richards Bay.

Mbule has been missing in action in the last three matches, with his last appearance coming in the 3–0 win over Marumo Gallants.

He was on the bench when Pirates were beaten 2–1 by his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns, at FNB Stadium last month.

He also missed the shock defeat to Casric Stars in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16, the 3–0 hammering of Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium, and was again absent when Pirates beat Polokwane City last week to maintain their position at the top of the Betway Premiership table.

Sebelebele, who had a blinding performance against Chiefs in the derby — where he was named Man of the Match — was absent through suspension when Pirates beat Rise and Shine last week.

However, he returns to the squad as Pirates host Richards Bay at Orlando Amstel Arena on Wednesday.

“The Pirates’ mission has been boosted by the availability of the in-form Kamogelo Sebelebele, who is eligible for selection after sitting out the trip to Polokwane through a one-match suspension. Midfielder Sipho Mbule is meanwhile back in contention for a place in the matchday squad after a brief spell on the sidelines,” the club said in a statement.

By the time Pirates take to the field on Wednesday, they could be second on the table if Mamelodi Sundowns — who are level on points with them — beat cellar dwellers Orbit College at Olympia Park Stadium on Tuesday.
